Notes

Inge and Matthew in Glastonbury
Inge's first trip to Glastonbury - outside 23 Northload Street, autumn 1994

Inge - mandolin, melodica
Matthew - saz

with
Andy Man - djembe, percussion, vocal noises [5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 17]
Peter - Andalucian cactus drum [4, 7, 8, 15]
Alan - djembe [1, 5, 11, 15, 17]
Andy Ra - acoustic twelve-string guitar [3]
Greet - acoustic guitar [6, 9]
Funkey - synths, processing [14, 18]

"Wraggle-Taggle Gypsies" and "Nottamun Town" are traditional English, "Cutting Bracken" is traditional Scottish, "Sôspan Fach" is traditional Welsh. We made up "For Isun" together (on Silbury Hill! on solstice morning!), Inge made up "Cowsong" and "Breakfast in Kildare", Matthew made up "Ayurvedic Toothpaste" and "Silver-Oxide Ghosts". Kris and Matthew made up "Wellies on the Arabian Peninsula". The rest are just jams.

1 recorded by Chris Didge at Coombe Farm, near Tiverton, Devon, autumn 1997
2, 10, 14, 16, 18 recorded by Funkey at his studio in Sint-Niklaas, autumn 1995
3, 5, 11, 13, 17 recorded at Maughanasilly, West Cork, autumn 2003
4, 7 recorded in Lizzie's field, Llandecwyn, N. Wales, summer 1997
6, 9 recorded by Funkey at his studio in Sint-Niklaas, spring 1996
8, 12 recorded at the Rigneys' farm, Cadamstown, Co. Offaly, summer 1997
15 recorded on the Rinky Dink stage, Big Green Gathering, Wiltshire, summer 1997

A few splices have been introduced (by Matthew) in some pieces to make this all a bit more listenable. The name of the collection originates with Stella from the Spacegoats - she used to call us her "snailfriends" because of our tendency to always turn up together wearing huge rucksacks, on the way from somewhere to somewhere else.
